Travel to Battle River

TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS:
Several major airlines serve Alaska daily from the lower 48. You should make your reservations well in advance to secure your desired flight. Plan to arrive in Anchorage the day prior to your scheduled trip date. Your departure flight date can coincide with your trip ending date if it is a late afternoon or early evening flight.

OVERNIGHT REQUIREMENTS:
By arriving in Anchorage a day prior to your trip departure date, an overnight stay will be required. Several major hotels are located in Anchorage with complimentary airport shuttle service. Once again, reservations should be made early to assure space. We would be happy to recommend places to stay as well as our favorite local restaurants.

TRIP DEPARTURE AND CHARTER INFORMATION:
Our trips start and end in Anchorage, Alaska. On your trip departure date, you will be scheduled for a late morning or early afternoon charter flight on Katmai Air Service from Anchorage to Battle River Wilderness Retreat. Katmai Air Service is located adjacent to the Anchorage International Airport at 4125 Aircraft Drive (907-243-5448). You will need to have your hotel shuttle service or taxi transport you to the Katmai Air Service offices so that you arrive at least 1 hour prior to the scheduled time of departure.

You will make one stop on your charter flight to Battle River Wilderness Retreat at Kulik Lodge to transfer to a float plane for the final portion of your trip. If the weather is clear, the entire flight is spectacular!

Excess Baggage billed of over 70 lbs will be billed at $1.29 per lb. plus 6.25% tax.

Where is Battle River?

We’re located about 250 miles southwest of Anchorage in the outback of Alaska’s Katmai National Park and Preserve. Gateway to McNeil River Brown Bear Sanctuary, Battle River is one of only a handful of lodges in Katmai, America’s third largest park. Needless to say, we don’t have any close neighbors except for the wildlife.

“and not another living soul within thirty miles or so, nor town of any significance for perhaps a hundred miles.”
